Grouper Bonanza!

Though the heat is starting to dissipate as we get into autumn, the grouper action offshore of Anna Maria Island is really heating up!  Check out the picture of Austin Goncalves (from Bradenton), holding one of the many red grouper he caught that day while fishing with Capt. Larry.  Austin was using a sardine, a bait that the grouper seem more than a little partial to.  

Big things were poppin' on a different trip.  Brad Burton, Howard Merritt, Dan Rawls, Shannon Willis, Marc Todd (and not pictured in the team- Les Citko), a group from Tampa, FL are shown to the right with their catch of groupers [reds and gags], plus some mangrove snapper, lane snapper and vermilion snapper.  The party caught their limit of grouper early in the trip, and then went to work catching snapper, fought some mean amberjacks, sharks and goliath groupers to finish out the day.   They were fishing with live and cut bait out to 130 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island.

If that isn't enough to convince you about the serious grouper business awaiting you, perhaps this will:  here's Cayla Massy, from Cederville Michigan, with her first gag grouper!  She also caught it using a sardine, but in about 45 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island. Kayla and her family caught many more grouper and snapper while fishing with Capt. Larry.

Even though it's football season, there's still plenty of time for fishing & getting a piece of
the grouper action.  As you can see from the above photos, Capt. Larry doesn't mess around when it comes to grouper, and if you want someone to SHOW YOU THE FISH, he's the man to do it-  keep your lines tight & your hook baited!
