Snap up some snappers!

Though they don't get as big as some of the other fish Capt. Larry often catches, snappers are some of the tastiest fish in the Gulf.  Joey Dale is pictured to the left with two nice American red snappers.  Joey was using sardines in about 150 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island. The party caught their limit of red snappers, beautiful scamp, a myriad of red grouper and more sharks than you can shake a stick at!

Bill Rolston, from Bradenton, got to tap into the MANGROVE MANIA too!  He's pictured below holding a delicious  mangrove snapper he caught using a sardine in about 100 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island.  It's not the first time Bill has been fishing with Capt. Larry; he enjoyed his last adventures so much he came back for more!  In this most recent trip, his party also caught more snapper, battled (and won) some serious amberjack, and a 120 lb spinner shark. 

Frank Ditzig from Cleveland, Ohio is shown below with a delightful red snapper he caught using a sardine in about 135 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island. Frank and party also caught a busload of large red grouper, more snappers and a few sharks.  It's safe to say a good time was had by all!

If your fall activities aren't as exciting as fighting fish that could end up on your skillet, maybe it's time to reevaluate how you're spending your time & make an allowance in your schedule to get out on the water with Capt. Larry.  A wise man once said, happiness can be found at the end of a fishing line.  Get your line in the water & catch something worth talking about on facebook!

Grouper Bonanza!

Though the heat is starting to dissipate as we get into autumn, the grouper action offshore of Anna Maria Island is really heating up!  Check out the picture of Austin Goncalves (from Bradenton), holding one of the many red grouper he caught that day while fishing with Capt. Larry.  Austin was using a sardine, a bait that the grouper seem more than a little partial to.  

Big things were poppin' on a different trip.  Brad Burton, Howard Merritt, Dan Rawls, Shannon Willis, Marc Todd (and not pictured in the team- Les Citko), a group from Tampa, FL are shown to the right with their catch of groupers [reds and gags], plus some mangrove snapper, lane snapper and vermilion snapper.  The party caught their limit of grouper early in the trip, and then went to work catching snapper, fought some mean amberjacks, sharks and goliath groupers to finish out the day.   They were fishing with live and cut bait out to 130 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island.

If that isn't enough to convince you about the serious grouper business awaiting you, perhaps this will:  here's Cayla Massy, from Cederville Michigan, with her first gag grouper!  She also caught it using a sardine, but in about 45 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island. Kayla and her family caught many more grouper and snapper while fishing with Capt. Larry.

Even though it's football season, there's still plenty of time for fishing & getting a piece of
the grouper action.  As you can see from the above photos, Capt. Larry doesn't mess around when it comes to grouper, and if you want someone to SHOW YOU THE FISH, he's the man to do it-  keep your lines tight & your hook baited!

Tuna Time!

What time is it kids?  IT'S TUNA TIME!  Fun fact: blackfin tuna are actually the smallest of the tuna species, but that doesn't make them any less delicious or exciting to catch.  To the left is Max Lawson & Hayden Wilson holding a big blackfin tuna, caught while using a pinfish on a flat line in about 145ft offshore Anna Maria Island.  The guys were down here for summer vacation from Tulsa, Oklahoma, celebrating their graduation from high school. The party also caught red snapper, red grouper, catch and release monster gag grouper, amberjacks, barracuda  blacktip and spinner sharks while fishing with Capt Larry.

Just because it's Tuna Time, doesn't mean there aren't other species to be pursued.  Below we see Sara Dale, a local from Anna Maria Island, with an angry red snapper she caught while using a sardine in about 150 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island. Sara and family caught their limit of tasty snappers, plus red grouper, scamps and sharks.

Another local, Richard Winston- of Bradenton, is shown below with the largest red grouper he's ever caught.  Richard was using a sardine, a favorite treat for many fish, in about 130 ft offshore of Anna Maria Island, when he hooked this monster.  The party had a great day, catching more grouper than what's pictured, amberjacks,  a few different kinds of snappers, & even some sharks (blacktip & spinners up to 6 ft)!  

So, if you're sick of tuna from a can, now is the time to go out there & get you some of the delight that is fresh fish.  However, if food isn't your first priority when it comes to fishing, there's some great action out there this time of year.  Offshore fishing is a rewarding hobby no matter how you look at it.  Book a trip with Capt.
